Welcome back to your very own Literature blog for your class.
Because of the lesson missed on 14 July 2010, please complete the following:
1. Simile Writing Challenge
2. Metaphor Writing Challenge
3. Poem Analysis - "The Sea"
I have already asked your classmates to distribute all 3 worksheets to everyone of you in class during Assembly today. I hope you have gotten them.
I tried my best to upload the powerpoint lesson slides and worksheets here but I am unable to do so. It seems that I am either technically incompetent or that you must pay the website company money in order to do so.
Because teachers are paid like church-mouses, I cannot afford to do so while my wife starves at home. Hence, please do get your worksheets from your classmates.
Hoping to see all of you very soon for our literature lessons - it's a pain having to miss lessons with you all.

WK 5: CA for Sec 2A1 and 2A2
Please make sure that you complete reading Chapters 4 to 8.
You need to know the following characters in the text -
Peng Peng (Chapter 7/The Dead Rat),
Ah Yong (Chapter 5 + Chapter 6/ An Afternoon of Disruption),
Ah Leng and Boy Boy (Chapter 4/ A Lost Child)
Choose your favourite character/s. Remember who they are and what happened to them. You can create a mind map for your favourite characters and bring them to class for the test. All mindmaps will get the homework star if they are well done.
The test will be for 2 periods for BOTH classes on Wk 6. You will need your textbook for the CA test.
For 2A1 = 4 February 2010
For 2A2 = 5 February 2010.

1. Highlight 3 ideas that you like best in the poem and tell me the reason why.
2. Read the book and pick out at least 2 egs for each idea.
Think about the following questions and their answers. Write your answers in foolscap paper.

b. your saddest days
c. your best friends
d. the game you like to play
e. the nicest thing someone had said to you

WHAT IS YOUR NAME SEC 2A2?
Please refer to pages 7 to 8 in the Handbook. Complete the 3 exercises carefully.
When you complete the last exercise, I also want you to ask your parents WHY they gave you your particular name. For eg, If you name is Hong Wei, ask your parents why they gave you the name.
Eg 2: My name is Jumiah and my parents gave me that name because I was born on Friday and in Malay Friday is Jumaat. See? Its very simple.
I also want you to think of a name that you think would suit you better. Give a reason why you think this is so.
