WHAT IS YOUR NAME SEC 2A2?

Please refer to pages 7 to 8 in the Handbook. Complete the 3 exercises carefully.

When you complete the last exercise, I also want you to ask your parents WHY they gave you your particular name. For eg, If you name is Hong Wei, ask your parents why they gave you the name.

Eg 2: My name is Jumiah and my parents gave me that name because I was born on Friday and in Malay Friday is Jumaat. See? Its very simple.

I also want you to think of a name that you think would suit you better. Give a reason why you think this is so.

So the homework is simple. Complete pages 7 to 8 and complete my 2 questions. Please make sure you go to the bookstore and get your Lit textbook as soon as possible.

If you DO NOT have the handbook, the questions are as below. Copy the questions into your notebook and then answer them.

1.1 Why do people give or take nicknames? Why do you think the children chose 'Ant' as a nickname for Anne? What does it say about the children?

1.2 What happens when people use nicknames either on others or themselves? Is it a good or bad thing?

1.3 Do you have a nickname? Does it say something unique about you? What nickname would you give yourself if you don't have one? Say why you have chosen it.
